We have to write reports this week. There are many factors I will consider before i give the grades.
Here are some questions I will be asking:
Has the student:
a. regularly been doing homework
b. shown signs of improvement in English
c. behaved well in class or proved to be a disruptive influence
d. learnt Podcasting
e. started/finished the booklets
f. entered the Business Competition
g. done any mocks
h. performance in the mocks
i. learnt the Business Studies glossary
j. writen blogs every day
k. regularly evaluated businesses
l. mind mapped topics for their blog - on a regular and consistent basis
So just bear the above in mind before you get angry over the grades received.
Expertise in the following doesn't count!

Monday is here and off we go again!
How many students who are serious about really wanting success have managed to comply with their homework, over the week-end?
Go on, ask yourself, have you managed this:
Economics Students
1. Daily posts in your blog.
2. List everyone else's blogs on your blog
3. Economics students: 3 mind maps a day related to the chapters of the book I sent round.
4. Learn how to and then create a PODCAST. (That's for these people - why haven't all of them done it?)
5. Book reviews (Economists) Where are the reviews on pigs and sex and drugs and...economics?
6. Finish off the Unit 1 Economics book (Economists)
7. Learn web design (Mary) and Desk Top publishing. How quickly you have forgotten
8. Checking out links: and practising!
9. You were supposed to be doing questions on market failure At least one person is having a go....
10. EIGHT Economics students were supposed to be doing this. Did all eight do it - I think not. Take responsibility for the other members in the group!
11. Set a week ago for Economists, what happened to Long's entry? Rinat's? COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY. Work to help each other
12. Even though I cover something in a blog and in class, pink people still claim never to have seen things or read them.Read and revise - all the time!
Business Studies students
1. Daily posts in your blog.
2. List everyone else's blogs on your blog
3. Learn how to and then create a PODCAST. (That's for these people - why haven't all of them done it?)
4. Learn web design (Mary) and Desk Top publishing. How quickly you have forgotten
5. Business glossary - what happened? Have you forgotten this:
6. It was only voluntary for some Business Studies students - but they could still have done it! You need all the practice you can get!
7. Business Studies students - what has happened? Where is it?
8. More lack of work by Business Studies students
9. Business Studies students should be working through these articles.
Everyone

3. Enter the Business competition. Some people did - not many but at least they tried.
4. So few of you even want to go to the LSE lecture just the six of you
5. Are the weaker members constantly improving their English? If not then this will hold back others so make sure that everyone practises using this.
If you haven't managed to do this, just how far behind do you want to slip? Already there are several who are too far behind...

Unhappy with your grades?
If you are unhappy with your grades (for any subject) then you should see the teacher as soon as possible and establish areas where you can improve.
If you are unhappy with the grades I have given you then here are some questions you should consider:
1. Do you speak English all the time in class?
2. Are you taking steps to improve your English?
3. Are you doing the Business English exercises I have listed in the blog?
4. Do you post detailed posts to your blog every single day? Each post should take 30 minutes MINIMUM to create.
5. Do you write comments on other blogs?
6. Have you listed everyone's blogs on your blogs I told you to? If you don't know how to do this have you asked anyone for help?
7. When you evaluate a product do you actually EVALUATE it and look at its competitors, the price, how the product works, what use it would be to the consumer?
8. I have given a lot of products to evaluate - have you done this?
9. For Economics, in the discussion list and here in the blog I listed questions for every day of the week. Have you done them and what have you done with your answers? I have not seen them.
10. In class do you participate?
11. Do your actions in class help the class to learn or are your actions disruptive?
12. Do you prepare lessons i.e. read ahead for your subject?
13. Have you learned the mind map software?
14. Have you mind mapped some key topics and put them in your blog?
15. For Business Studies did you do the work on setting up in business - and did you come up with a business idea (question 3) and then comment on it (question 4)
16. Have you been listing key words in your vocabulary books and then expanding on the explanations later?
17. Do you read an English newspaper in English every day? (Especially the business/economics section)
18. Have you joined the Stock Market investment team?
19. Have you played the business games - any of them especially the Investment one?
20. Have you been watching Dragons Den (on the internet)?
21. Have you entered the Business Plan competition (optional)?
22. For Economics have you started mind mapping those chapters i sent round and then putting the maps in your blogs?
