Ask yourself this....

One company, large group involved, no real competition. Eventually, after much arguing, produce one or two products.

2-3 companies - all going for particular niches, working in a small (very small 2-3 people) competing.

Which one of the two options would produce the greatest satisfaction, the highest quality output, the most involvement - and thus the most gain for all parties?

I wrote:

So, on current performance just 2 of you with maybe 4 more. You have until mid-day Tuesday and then task 2 closes.

Anyone who does not comply with these tasks in the timespan given will not be allowed to go - and if that means no-one goes then so be it

The third task will be given tomorrow.

Most people have not completed task 2 so the group will be very small. I have to give in final names on Thursday.

Once I give those in there can be no changes.

Class of 76 'cleverer' than kids of today

The intellect of even the brainiest 14-year-olds has deteriorated dramatically over the decades despite an increase in the number of pupils achieving top grades in exams.

Their cognitive abilities are level with those of 12-year-olds in 1976, the study found.

Researchers at King's College London compared the mental agility of 800 bright 13 and 14-year-olds with similar tests carried out some three decades ago.

The tests - designed to assess grasp of abstract scientific concepts such as volume, density, quantity and weight - found far fewer youngsters hit top scores than in 1976.

In one test, average achievement remained roughly the same as in 1976.

But only just over one in ten pupils were able to demonstrate a "higher level of thinking" compared to one in four in 1976.

In a test to measure mathematical abilities, only one in 20 of today's teenagers were top scorers, down from one in five in 1976.

Professor Michael Shayer, who led the study, said the brainpower slump may be down to over-testing in schools.

He said: "The moment you introduce targets, people will find the most economical strategies to achieve them.

"In the case of education, I'm sure this has had an effect on driving schools away from developing higher levels of understanding."

In previous research, Professor Shayer concluded that the cognitive abilities of 11-year-olds were up to three years behind where they were in 1975.

ELEVEN HOURS LEFT - who will the losers be?

The losers will be those who do not take advantage of this unique opportunity. A total of 32 books can be done with a further 10 without very much extra effort.

On the way you'll become experts in the technique of passing examinations, experts in the subject matter in terms of pitching it at the right level, will have laid the foundations for something that may well be very profitable - and learnt a lot along the way.

The losers will look like the people on the left....

Of course if only 2-3 people are involved and they're serious and 2 are Russian speaking and one Chinese then it will probably all work very well...

Several people have now emailed in. So There are now Vietnamese, Chinese and Russian translators standing by if you don't go ahead!

Like I said, you have 11 hours left...I first told you about all this 18 days ago and nothing's happened. The market doesn't wait.

The first step is to form the business otherwise the whole thing will fall apart. Without that foundation nothing will happen.

Schools often place huge orders just before Xmas as they want material to give to pupils to read over the break - plus they want material to hand out to help pupils prepare for exams.

Monday

You need to go to Registration. (I won't be there)

Then some responsible people will prepare and go to the Revision Course. Others will post in their blogs. Others may learn PODCASTING. Some will practice questions on Business Studies and Economics. Others will read through their notes.

Some, with exams will design a schedule of revision. Work out what they have to cover to achieve the grade A they desire so much. One or two may even realise that a high, very high, grade A in Units 1 & 2 will mean they actually have the full A level by January!

Oh what happiness! What joy!

Then there's others who will stagger back to bed, check whether there is any vodka left in the bottles under the bed, search for the remnants of tobacco and then, finding none, crawl under the covers and go back to sleep.

Still others, woefully unable to keep up with a dynamic Economics group, will seek solace in esoteric writings or simply play pool.

Mock examination results!

Firstly what you have to remember is that people very little time for preparation. Plus in the real exam they will have more time for the papers.

Also the results simply show what I knew anyway:

a. those who work hard and write blogs, learn mind maps etc etc do well
b. some people think they know more than they really do and should SLOW DOWN then they would be better!

2882 33/45 (Grade A prediction)
2883 17/45 (Terrible result - too many basic errors showing a surprising lack of knowledge. It did not help that she finished the exam in 28 minutes!)

David

2881 12/45 (This is the module we have covered in class. The result shows that he has not been listening to a word I say!)
2882 27/45 (We have done some of this in class. So despite not listening he did well)
2883 : 15/45 (This was covered in the first 2 weeks and also a bit in Business Studies. This result shows he is not paying attention!)

2883: 23/45 (A well written highly competent piece of work. Marks would have been more but she ran out of time)
